An exhibition documenting the experiences of New York City's most recent waves of immigrants — from the Caribbean, Latin America, West Africa, South and Southeast Asia, and the Middle East — through photographs, oral histories, personal objects, and contemporary artworks. The project grew from a four-year community documentation initiative that partnered the museum with immigrant-serving organizations in all five boroughs, producing an archive of over 2,000 oral history interviews and 10,000 photographs. The exhibition raises urgent questions about belonging, citizenship, and what it means to make New York City home in the twenty-first century.
