Wearable Sculptures with Pat Oleszko
Whitney Museum of American Art
Artists of all ages are invited to join Whitney Biennial 2026 artist Pat Oleszko to create their own wearable sculpture. Transform yourself into a walking, talking work of art using a wide array of art supplies and recycled materials. Step into our video booth to record your sculptural costume in action. At 3pm, join us in the Museum’s Lobby. We’ll all put on our wearable works of art and parade around the block with a New Orleans-style brass band from our friends at Jazz at Lincoln Center. Pat Oleszko first began creating her “inflatables” in the early 1980s as a way to make large-scale sculptures without relying on the need for constructed, heavy armatures. This work debuted as a 1995 commission for the World Trade Center Plaza, where strong winds nearly blew it away. The artist sews these sculptures in sections, which she then connects, unfurls, and inflates on her roof.

Whitney Museum of American Art
The Whitney Museum is proud to present two short films followed by a Q&A as part of the 18th Annual ReelAbilities Film Festival. We Are the Audience We Are the Audience centers people who stutter as they reflect on how they are seen and assert how they wish to be represented. Blending documentary intimacy with refined cinematic craft, the film offers a rare, collective portrait of dysfluent voices coming together to imagine a different future. Co-created with the stuttering community through doctoral participatory action research, and featuring an original score by a composer who stutters, the film explores identity, belonging, and the quiet power of representation. Director: Eliza Brownlie Runtime: 6:00 Year: 2025 Beyond Each Frame Filmmaker Auguste and his editor Grégoire face festival rejection due to a missing audio description, prompting a race against time to make their film accessible. The Frick Collection · Ian Wardropper Education Room
Join Us: Free with admission; no registration required Questions: education@frick.org Timothy McCall, Professor of Art History and Bernard Lucci Endowed Chair in Italian Studies, Villanova University In this brief talk, art historian Timothy McCall refocuses our attention on the fine white linen shirt (or  camicia ) in Titian's Portrait of a Man in a Red Hat . In the early sixteenth century, fancifully pleated linen shirts like the one worn in the painting were legislated against in Venice and Florence as seductive, potentially effeminizing imports that accentuated vulnerable necks and throats. Yet, these  camicie  were fervently coveted by young elite men. Fashion resonated politically, on male bodies that became cultural battlefields. Please meet in the Ian Wardropper Education Room . Examining dress not only as the clothing an artist depicted but as signifiers of larger social and cultural contexts, speakers will consider how works of art in the early modern period both reflected and shaped fashion—from courtly attire and mourning dress to fashion prints and self-fashioning in the public sphere—while engaging with the social, material, and artistic worlds in which it circulated.
