The Weight of Evidence: War Photography Since 9/11

February 6, 2026 May 10, 2026

A sober and rigorously researched survey of photojournalism from the conflicts in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Yemen, and Ukraine over the past twenty-five years, examining how photographers working under extreme conditions have shaped public understanding of contemporary warfare. The exhibition presents the work of over 30 photographers through large-format prints, contact sheets, and the notebooks and equipment of journalists killed in the field, asking hard questions about the ethics of bearing witness and the circulation of images in the digital age. A significant portion of the exhibition is drawn from ICP's own archive, one of the most comprehensive collections of war photography in the world.
